The Florida School for the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine, FL.
Stacey and Jay Permenter read their story Don't Talk To Strangers! to Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The children were fascinated with the illustrations and enthralled with the story. Jay and Stacey's book and its illustrations taught the students very important lessons regarding stranger danger. In addition to the story, the Permenters created and gave each student a bookmark with safety tips on it. The safety tips addressed issues that the students have learned about throughout the school year with Drug Abuse Resistance Education, Talking about Touching, and Second Step programs we use at our school. What a fun and exciting way to reinforce the dangers of talking to strangers! ~ Marla H., teacher
Stacey and Jay Permenter provided a wonderful presentation to our students at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. Their book, Don't Talk to Strangers!, presents valuable safety lessons in a kid-friendly format, and their storytelling ability kept the students interested and engaged. The teachers particularly liked the enrichment information provided after the story, reviewing safety rules and reminders for the children. Students left with a deeper understanding of personal safety, and enjoyed the presentation immensely. ~ Heidi Jordan, Assistant Principal, Deaf Elementary School, FSDB
From BJ Fagan, Louisiana When my book arrived, I sat and scanned the pictures and marveled at the richness of the colors and the characters. Then I began to read and read. What a delight to know that this story was passed down through the generations. One of the best gifts we can give the children of our world is to prepare them to be strong and secure in their thoughts and actions and certainly in this world, to know and be aware of their surroundings. This children's book is a fine example of just that.
From M. Swanson, Jacksonville, FL I purchased a copy of Don't Talk to Strangers for my grand daughter at the Lakewood Methodist craft show. I read it to her that night and let me tell you, she absolutely loved it! I had to read it to her three times. She loved the story and I loved the message it contained. I am purchasing two more copies for my grand children in Alabama. If possible, I would like to get those signed as well. Thank you for writing such a wonderful and important book. I will spread the word!
